Robert Geigel, age 90, of Kansas City and formerly of Algona, Iowa died on Thursday October 30, 2014. Robert Frederick Geigel, the son of Frederick Samuel and Leota May (Hackman) Geigel, was born on October 1, 1924 in Algona, Iowa. He graduated from Algona High School in 1942 and then attended the University of Iowa. Robert served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was with the Seabees in demolition. On August 21, 1947 Robert was united in marriage with Vera June Lackender. Robert had worked as a professional wrestler and promoter throughout his life. He was a member of the Shriners, the Iowa City Masonic Lodge #4 from 1949 – present, I-Club, University of Iowa Alumni, the Cauliflower Alley Club, VFW and a lifetime member of the NRA. Robert enjoyed vegetable gardening and hunting trips with wrestlers, friends and family. One of his favorite trips was to Kemmerer, Wyoming. Left to cherish Robert’s memory is his wife of 67 years, Vera of Kansas City, MO; three daughters, Susan Anne (Roger) Kohl of Macon, MO, Micheola Lynne Geigel of Peachtree City, GA and Charlotta Louise (Norman) Dunkin of Peachtree City, GA; five grandchildren, Sarah (Monty) Moore, Edward (Alexandra) Kohl, Emily (Bob) Blakey, Sadie (David) Swanagan and Reed (Kristy) Dunkin; 9 great grandchildren, Katey, Garrett, Mary, Morgan, Breanna, Audrie, Lillian, Anna, and Jackson; 1 great great grandchild Ellie on the way; and a nephew, Jim Voigt of Algona. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Georga Voigt.
