Robert G. Hornecker, 95, of Oglesby, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at IVCH in Peru. Mr. Hornecker was born on September 14, 1920, in Oglesby to Robert A. and Fern (Morrison) Hornecker. He married Rose M. Brandt on July 29, 1943, in All Faith Church in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Bob was a graduate of L-P High School.

He served three years in the Army, tanks and Amphibious tractors division; most of the 3 years were spent in the Pacific operation. After the Atom bomb was dropped in Japan and peace was declared, a complete Olympic meet was set up at Rizal Stadium in Manila. It was open to any servicemen in the Pacific who could qualify for an event. Bob qualified for the High Jump, and was flown to Manila where he won the Gold Medal.

Bob worked at Westclox for over 35 years in various departments before becoming Field Service manager for Westclox and Seth Thomas. He reported directly to corporate headquarters, which was then Talley Industries. Bob did extensive traveling covering the United States, Canada and Hawaii and set up seven companies, owned and operated service centers in major marketing areas and controlled over 100 franchised centers.

Before retiring from Talley Industries, he was made head of the Government Relations Department, responsible for obtaining fuse contracts. After retiring, Bob worked for the Housing Authority for LaSalle County for approximately 1 years. He is survived by one sister, Barbara Reno of Pekin; one nephew, Raymond Brandt of Oglesby and one great-nephew, Justin Brandt of Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose and one brother, Jack Hornecker.
