Robert Francis Sebby, 90, of rural Sheridan, died at his home, the same home he was born in, on Saturday afternoon, March 12, 2016 surrounded by his family.

Robert was born on April 27, 1925 in Sheridan to Francis and Anna (Knutson) Sebby. He was a graduate of Serena High School. Robert married Fern Marie Jacobson on March 29, 1946, in Wheaton, IL. He was a lifelong farmer. Robert served in the US Army during WWII and was a POW during the Battle of the Bulge.

He was honored for his service to our country with an Honor Flight, and was also the Guest of Honor at an event in Cantigny. Robert was a member of the Fox River Lutheran Church, the Sheridan American Legion, Sons of Norway, the Farm Bureau, the Norway Cemetery Association, and was on the Board for the Serena Fire Department.He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Fern, 3 children, Robert (Darlene) Sebby, Jr., of Bull Shoals, AR, Mark (Pat) Sebby, of Sheridan, and Carol (Michael) Gunier, of Sheridan, 8 grandchildren, Sgt. First Class William Robert (Cely) Sebby, Ruth (Brian) Giese, Jennifer (Jim) Buchanan, Steven (Dr. Brittany) Sebby, Kristen Sebby, Michael (Christy) Gunier, Jr., Erin Gunier, and Timothy (Megan) Gunier, 10 great grandchildren, Jacob, Reagan, and Justin Giese, Lauren, Grace, and Caroline Buchanan, Javier Gonzalez, Parker Sebby, and Emma and Magdalene Gunier, and 2 nephews that he considered sons, who now farm his land, Richard and David Tuntland. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Gretchen Gunier, a brother, Joseph Sebby, 5 sisters, Ferne Miller, Verdel Voga, Marguerite Sebby, Maye Sebby, and Florence Tuntland, and a sister in law LaRee Jacobson.Pallbearers will be SFC William Robert Sebby, Brian Giese, Jim Buchanan, Steven Sebby, Michael Gunier, Jr., and Timothy Gunier and honorary pallbearers will be Richard and David Tuntland.Memorials may be directed to Fox River Lutheran Church or the Norway Cemetery.
