Robert (Bob) Post passed away peacefully at the VA Medical Center on January 27, 2018, in Boise, Idaho at the age of 96 due to complications from pneumonia and the flu.
Bob is survived by his two sons Bill and Scott, two daughters-in-law Judy and Laura, all from Boise, 4 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 7 great-grandsons, 6 great-granddaughters and 7 step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Charlotte (Cho), Son Gene, Brothers Jack, Holland (Holly), George, sisters Luella, Leona and Betty, and parents John and Pansy.
Bob was born on July 11, 1921, in Caldwell, Idaho to John and Pansy Post. He graduated from Boise High School in 1942. He attended a government school to become a machinist and was to be sent to Salt Lake City, UT. His dad had died a few months earlier and chose to stay in Boise to assist his mother. Bob always put a high value on family. Bob joined the Navy on September 14, 1942 and attended boot camp in San Diego, CA. The Navy then sent him to machinist school in North Dakota and then optical school in Washington State. He served aboard the USS Cascade, a destroyer tender as a Special Artificer, Optical. He was discharged from the Navy in October 1945.
He married Charlotte (Cho) in 1946, and with their two sons Bill and Gene, moved to Pasco, Washington, and began his career in carpentry. In 1958, Bob and his family moved back to Boise, Idaho and in 1963 their son Scott was born.
Bob was accomplished at carpentry and pretty much all aspects of home construction. He was always learning new things while on the job. He enjoyed being outside and would spend days camping, hunting and fishing. At home, he would work in his large vegetable garden when he wasn’t working on various wood working projects.
