Malecki, Robert “Bob” F. of St. Johns formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Our beloved “Daddy” and special “Gramps” passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Hazel Findlay Country Manor in St. Johns. He was 86 years old. Bob was born on June 30, 1930 in Saginaw, the youngest child of Adam and Scholastyka “Stella” (Sobiesiak) Malecki, who emigrated from Poland in 1912. He married Mary Ellen Roemer on June 2, 1951 at St. George Catholic Church in Saginaw. They were married 64 years; she preceded him in death on March 17, 2016. Bob graduated from Saginaw High School, class of 1948. He proudly served in Korea, as a Corporal with the United States Army Second Rocket F.A. Battery from 1951-1953. He then began his apprenticeship with the Local 85 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and became a Journeyman Plumber. He retired in 1991 from John E. Green Plumbing and Heating. Bob was a union member for 64 years. He was an avid fan of harness and thoroughbred horse racing. Blackjack and poker were his passions. Bob was a lifelong Detroit Tigers Fan.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Estelle Malecki and her husband, Randy McClain of St. Johns; a son, Robert Carl (Terri Lynn) Malecki of Birch Run; seven grandchildren: Carson (Michelle) McClain, Adam (Francine) Malecki, Steven Malecki, Travis (Victoria) McClain, Shane (Theresa) McClain, Rebecca (Kyle) Rose, and Amber Hammerl; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Geno Malecki; seven sisters: Genevieve Majorski, Casmera Slaski, Alice Schram, Albina Hargett, and Lillian, Sally and Helen Malecki.
