Robert F. Bociulis, 93, of Burlington Township passed away peacefully at Samaritan Hospice at Virtua Hospital in Mt. Holly on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. He was born in Burlington, he graduated from Wilbur Watts High School in 1939 and attended the School of Industrial Arts in Trenton.
He enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 and served on active duty in the Asiatic and Pacific Theatres aboard the Battleship USS Nevada. He also served aboard the USS Wilkes Barre, which received a Presidential Unit Citation for participation in the attack of Iwo Jima. He saw duty in the North Atlantic and was involved in the Philippine Liberation, receiving four Campaign Stars before being Honorably Discharged in 1945 as Petty Officer. He was a life member of the American Battleship Association.
He was a Supervisor at the Public Service Electric & Gas Company, Burlington and Mercer Generating Stations, retiring in 1980 after 40 years of service. After retirement, he was briefly employed as Material Expeditor for Babcock and Wilcox Company of Akron, Ohio. Mr. Bociulis was a parishioner of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Burlington. Preceeded in death by his wife, Regina A. (Nee: Gillece), he is survived by his wife Winifred (Nee: Monahan); a son Robert and his wife Debra of Mt. Bethel, Pa; his daughter Peg Gollnick (Michael) of Burlington; and his daughter Regina C. McKenna (Jack) of Deptford NJ.
Preceeded in death by his granddaughter Melissa A. Gollnick, he is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael P. Gollnick and his wife Laura of Burlington, Kathryn M. Bertolino and her husband Christopher of Cherry Hill, NJ. Samantha and Ryan Bociulis; great-grandchildren: Alexa Hope and Jack Patrick Gollnick, Madelyn Anne Bertolino, as well as many nieces and nephews.
