Robert F. “Bob” Rose, 83, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully from natural causes at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart.

He was born in Elkhart on Sept. 23, 1931, to the late John F. and Wilma (Meredith) Rose Kunce.

He married Mabel M. Watkins in Las Vegas. She passed away in Elkhart in 2006.

Surviving, at home, is his companion, Peggy Seafler. Also surviving are his stepchildren, Vicki Hartzell of South Bend, Chuck (Elizabeth) Hartzell of Bristol and Bruce, Jeff (Lori) and Lee (Diane) Bradley and Mary Ann (Rick) Niece, all of Elkhart; brothers Ronald (Carla) Rose of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Myron (Hannah) Rose of Elkhart; and a sister, Joan Lough of Venice, Fla. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive, including Hannah and Christopher Hartzell and Justin and Jonah Jones.

A brother, Billydale “Bill” Mowery, stepson Mike Hartzell and stepdaughter Sonja Campbell, all preceded Bob in death.

Bob worked many years at CTS, retiring as a group leader in the early 1990s. He also helped found the Chiphone Credit Union, for which he sat on the board for many years. He was also a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge 599.

In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, following the New York Stock Exchange and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War.
