Robert “Bob” E. Pierce
1/18/1929 – 6/1/2020
Robert “Bob” Eugene Pierce, 91, of Meridian, Idaho, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Lillie and Warren Pierce. At the age of 16, he fabricated his birth certificate so he could join the Marine Corps and was very proud to serve his country. He married Vivian, who had two children prior to their union, Lynda and Diane. He and Vivian then had two children, Kimberly, and Robert Jr. After Vivian lost her battle to cancer, Bob married Cleone, who had three children from a prior union, Gretchen, Jennifer, and Gordon.
In his youth Bob traveled all over the country with his family, developing a love for adventure, until age 16 when he fabricated his birth certificate in order to join the military. Bob was very proud of his time in the Marine Corps, grateful to have served his country. To continue in his travels after the military Bob purchased a camper, then upgraded to a motor home, and then eventually built a cabin at Terrace Lakes where he would spend time with friends and family over the decades. The fondest memories his friends and family have of Bob include times in the camper, motor home, or Terrace Lakes cabin. Bob loved doing activities year-round, snowmobiling in the winter, and swimming and golfing in the summer. Bob worked in the manufactured housing industry at Nashua for 44 years, loving his job so much he didn’t retire until age 70.
Bob is survived by children Lynda Dean, Diane Morris, Kimberly Hickman, Robert E. Pierce Jr., Jennifer Schmeoger, and Gordon Milford, as well as many grand and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his sisters, Vivian Phelps and Beverly Johnson, as well as wife Vivian, wife Cleone, and daughter Gretchen, all of whom died of cancer.
Bob resided at Alpine Meadows in Meridian the last year of his life, and his family would like to give a special thanks to the staff there for the love and care they provided him in his final days.
