Robert “Eddie” Hayes, 69, of Whitesburg went to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System. He was saved at the age of 60 and was a member of Spruce Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for 34 years; most recently with Dana Trucking. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and camp; especially in the Smoky Mountains and most of all he was a Godly man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lucille Hayes; brother, Walter Lee Hayes; first wife, Barbara Sue Hayes; step-daughter Deana Marie Trent.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Nella Hayes; son, Jeffrey Duane (April) Hayes; brothers, J.C. (Wilma Jo) Hayes, Jerry Hayes; sister, Emma Lou (Don) Rhoades; step-son, Jeff (Tameria) Shaver and step-daughter, Rhonda Michelle Ware; grandchildren, Laurel, Victoria, Aubrey, Keaton, Isabella and Gideon; step-grandchildren, Danielle, Clint, Shelby as well as several nieces and nephews; special friend, Bill Hodge.
