Robert Lynn Edinger, 81, of Harbert, Michigan died Sunday morning, September 6, 2009 with his loving wife, Evelyn, and his cousin, Marilyn, by his side. Rob was born October 11, 1927 to Lynn and Catherine (Snodgrass) Edinger in South Bend, Indiana. He graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1945 and earned his BA in Journalism at Michigan State University.

He proudly served his country in the US Air Force, attaining the rank of Major before his retirement in 1976.On November 21, 1957 he married Evelyn Perkins from Sanford, Maine at the Altus Oklahoma Air Force Base. Bob and Evie spent their first three years of marriage stationed in Spain, first at Zaragoza Air Base and then at Moron Air Base in Seville. Their twenty years in the USAF took them to many places in the U.S. and around the world where they met and made life long friends. On July 4, 1976, Bob & Evie came home to Birchwood and there were able to renew old friendships and make new friends.

Bob worked at many different jobs, including The Bank of Three Oaks, Midwest Appraisals, and in real estate (Clyde Pappas). He was a freelance correspondent for the South Bend Tribune and the South County Gazette for years. Rob was an avid reader, loved listening to music, painting, sailing, cooking and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, son, Gerry (Patti) Pearson, Flower Mound, Texas; grandson, Sean Hembree; brother, Richard Allen Edinger of Harbert, Michigan, his cousin Marilyn Case Bowker, Williamston, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.
