Robert Earl Wright, known as “Bobby” to many and affectionately known as “Gran” to family, passed away on June 11, 2017. Robert was born May 18, 1943 in Walker County, Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Williams Wright; son, Robert Justin Wright (Aimee); granddaughter, Olivia M. Wright; grandson, Robert Ethan Wright; sister, Betty Bridges and brother, Billy Joe Wright, all of Birmingham, and a very special niece, Leslie Wright of Nashville, TN; he also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Wright of Jasper, AL and brothers, Willie Wright of Jasper, Lester Wright of Birmingham, and a sister, Mary Lorene Stocks (John D.) of Jasper, Jewel Douglas (Troy) of Birmingham, and Evelyn Hughey (Jack) of Spartanburg, SC. He was a graduate of Walker County High School and the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, class of 1967. He was a CPA, member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Alabama Society of CPA’s. He was with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells (CPA’s) Birmingham; he was first Corporate Controller Nissan Motor Manufacturing in Tennessee; Gannett Outdoors Groups, stationed in Tennessee; Vice President USA Today (Gannett), Arlington, VA.
