Robert Earl Jones was born May 8, 1945 to the late Walter Earl Jones Jr. and Priscilla Williams in Lawrence County, Alabama. He departed this life on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at his residence.
He attended schools in Lawrence County, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Lawrence County.
Robert was employed at Goodyear Mills for thirty-five plus years as a forklift operator. He was a friend to all he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Sharon (Mike) Malone, Walter (Zonita) Jones, Jomo Jones, Muhammed (Freda) Jones, Miranda (Steve) Toney and Charles (Amy) Jones all of Decatur; two aunts, Fannie Mitchell of Florence, AL and Evelyn Jones of Decatur; three uncles, Willie B. Jones of Muscle Shoals, AL, Willie E. (Emma) Jones of Decatur and Homer Williams of Belle Mina, AL; eighteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
