Robert E. Halstead, 87, of Peru, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. Mr. Halstead was born November 18, 1930, in Peru to Jake and Emma (Sadnick) Halstead.
He married Adele M. Micheli on September 22, 1951, at St. Joseph’s Church in Peru. Mr. Halstead was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Peru, worked for United Parcel Service, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Adele; three children, Donald (Holly) Halstead of Dalzell and Laura Dimond and Marianne (Harry) Weide both of Peru; eight grandchildren, Ryan, R.J. and Riley Halstead, Robby and Eddy Oppenlander, Kristina Webb, Jessica Lorden, and Tricia Gaughan and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Leanne Schweickert; a son-in-law, Tom Dimond; his sister, Marie Piercy, and brother, Harold Halstead.
