Robert E. Granger, 90, of Anderson, passed away on January 31, 2019 at the Wellbrooke of Carmel. He was born on November 25, 1928 in Anderson, the second of eight children to William E. Granger Sr. and Velma (Poor) Granger. Robert graduated from Anderson High School in 1946 and served his country in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954, mainly in the Philippines.

He worked at Delco Remy for 40 years, mostly as a tool room foreman, and never had to endure a job interview or write a resume, and never had a computer or cell phone. Bob was an avid gardener and golfer, and once beat his age by shooting an 83 on 18 holes at age 85. In heaven, he will be reunited with his parents; brothers, William E. Granger Jr., Kenneth L. Granger, and Charles R. “Dick” Granger; sister, Linda Wolfe; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Norma (Lanham) Granger, children, Diane (Jerry) Engstrom of Cincinnati, Jay (Debbie) Granger of Noblesville, and Barry (Connie) Granger of Carmel; brothers, Don (Linda) Granger of Ft. Myers, FL, Ron Granger of Bedford, and Jon (Betty) Granger of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Grandchildren, Ryan Engstrom, Candice Granger Thompson, Scott Mathes, Robbie Granger, Brant Granger, Rebecca Granger, Lydia Granger Foley, Sam Granger, and Erin Engstrom; seven great-grandchildren and two more on the way.
