Mr. Robert E.Crosby, age 82, of Milford, formerly of Beacon Falls and Naugatuck, beloved husband of 60 years to Jane (Smith) Crosby, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  

 Son of the late Ernest and Ruth (Hopkins) Crosby, he was born on June 16, 1927, in Somerville, MA.

Robert served with pride and honor in the U.S. Navy during WWII, aboard the Destroyer USS Floyd B. Parks DD-884. He was awarded the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Medal and the Victory Medal. He achieved the rank of Radioman 3rd class. Upon discharge, Bob began his 23 year career in the shoe industry working for U.S. Rubber and Uniroyal. He was the co-owner of Henderson Shoes in the Trumbull Mall, where children were fitted for their shoes in a fire truck. Then he eventually retired from Arciuolo’s Shoe Store in Milford.

Bob served as a volunteer fireman in Naugatuck for 30 years. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #17 in Naugatuck. He was also a member of the Milford Senior Center and Milford Bowling League.

 In addition to wife Jane , he is survived by three loving children Jeanne (Fred) Scheithe of Naugatuck,  James (Minda) Crosby of Virginia Beach,VA; Patricia (Rob) Lombard of Litchfield, a daughter-in-law Lynn Crosby of North Andover,MA; three cherished grandchildren Jeff and Jamie Crosby of North Andover, MA; and Michelle Flordeliz of Virginia Beach,VA. He is also survived by a brother Ralph (Barbara) Crosby of Naugatuck, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Robert T. Crosby of North Andover, MA and formerly of Milford, his step-mother Victoria Crosby and a sister Eleanor (Ed) Cwiklinski.
