Robert E. Collins, 85, Daleville, passed away June 6, 2011 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Middletown after an extended illness. He was born January 11, 1926 in Muncie, Indiana, and resided in Daleville. Bob served his country in the US Army Air Corp in WWII.

Bob retired from General Motors as a Skilled Tradesman and also worked as an electrician for Moorehead Electric. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Anderson; a member of the Madison County Voiture #510 40 & 8; Anderson American Legion, and member of the IBEW and UAW.

He coached Little League and Babe Ruth in Chesterfield and coached basketball at the Chesterfield Christian Church. He enjoyed stained glass and wood carving clubs. Bob was very active in his kid’s activities, loved to fish and garden.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Leanna Ridgway Collins; children, Sandy Dale Bennett and Randy Candy Collins; step-son, Lt. Mike Heather Cooksie; brother, Harold Collins of Cuba, Missouri; mother & father-in-law, Jessie & Charles Ridgway of Pendleton;seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank neighbors, Claude Beaty, Barb & Charlie Pahmier and Ron & Debbie Wilson; the staff at Miller’s Merry Manor in Middletown; and good friend, Harold Miller, for all their loving care.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett C. Collins & Pearl M. Norris Collins Davis and infant son, Roland Collins.
