Robert Dean Pontnack, 83, of Rockford, formerly of Freeport, passed peacefully Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Rosewood Care Center in Rockford.
Born November 25, 1930 in Cedarville he was the son of Clifford and Helen (Trester) Pontnack. He married Jackie C. Brenner March 28, 1969. He served in the US Army for over three years leaving as a Sargent.
Robert was a Supervisor with Commonwealth Edison for 35 years. He then spent several years as a Rockford School Bus Driver.
Surviving are his wife Jackie, of Rockford; his children, Catherine (Davy) Wilson of German Valley, Paula Lamont of Cherry Valley, and Greg (Linda) Pontnack of Rockford; his sister, Shirley Buss of Freeport; his brothers, Gary (Beverly) Pontnack and Keith (Rose) Pontnack both of Freeport; five grandchildren, Matthew (Loving Companion, Sarah Johnson) Wilson, Bradley (Corrinne) Wilson, Jennifer (fiancé Jason Grupe) Hansen, Michelle (Ken) Decker, and Jimmy Lamont; several great grandchildren; and his beloved dogs, Hydee and Chloee. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenny Pontnack, brother-in-law, Dale Buss, loving companion of Paula Lamont, Jeff Whiting.
