Robert David Kluttz, 97, of Woodleaf passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC.
Born in Rowan County on January 30, 1924, he was the son of the late Florence Wilhelm Kluttz and John Robert Kluttz.
Robert was a graduate of Cleveland High School and a veteran of the US Army, serving in the 737th Tank Battalion “Patton’s Spearheaders”. He worked as a brick contractor. Robert was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, the American Legion, American Legion Baseball Committee, VFW, and Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge #576.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Louise Carscaddon Kluttz, whom he married on February 9, 1947; father, John Robert Kluttz; mother, Florence Wilhelm Kluttz; brother, Donald Kluttz; sisters, Ois Lee Miller, Charlotte Dillon, and Mary Hill; daughter-in-law, Pam Kluttz.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Richard Kluttz of Salisbury, NC and Steve Kluttz (Renae Kluttz) of Woodleaf, NC; daughters, Brenda Pulliam (Mike Pulliam) of Cleveland, NC and Peggy Griffiths (David Griffiths) of Dade City, FL; sister, Genevieve Collins of Monroe, NC; grandchildren, Travis Kluttz, Wendy Wilson, Jan Pulliam, Scott Griffiths, Angela Lance, Tony Padgett, Treva Wood and twelve great-grandchildren.
