Robert Dale Cannon, 73, of Galesburg, died at 1:51 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at his daughter’s home in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Robert was born May 27, 1944 in Galesburg, the son of Ralph D. and Margaret (Hillard) Cannon. He married Cindy Adams on October 10, 2015 in Peoria. She survives of Galesburg. He is also survived by two sons, James (Destiny) Mozingo of Sand Springs, OK and Brian (April) Cannon of Wataga; two daughters, Leanne (Ed) Loehr of Cedar Rapids, IA and Cari Randall of Woodhull; and a step son, Steven (Hannah) Godsil of Peoria. He is also survived by four sisters, Linda Eaves and Bonnie Axcell both of Galesburg, Connie Dawson of Morton, and Debbie Cannon of Atlanta, GA; fourteen grandchildren, Conner and Gage Cannon; Justin, Hayley, Katie, Kyle, Dahlton, Jackson, Autumn, Noah, Connor John, and Lacey Loehr; Elizabeth and Cannon Mozingo; and two great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by one son, Robert “Bobby” Dale Cannon, Jr.; a brother, Ralph “Corky” Cannon; and his parents.
Robert graduated from Galesburg High School and served in the US Air Force. He worked as a Galesburg Police Officer from 1967 to 1971. He then worked as a trainsman for BNSF for 32 years, retiring in 2004. He was an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan along with being a car enthusiast.
