Robert D. McLaughlin, 79, of White Hall, IL and formerly of Winchester, IL, died Nov. 22, 2009 at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
He was born Mar. 30, 1930 in Winchester, the son of William A. and Hazel Henry McLaughlin. He married Doris Clement and she preceded him in death, he then married Betty L. Ambrose on Dec. 3, 1970 in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 2006.
He is survived by three sons, John (Lisa) McLaughlin of Tracy, CA, Michael McLaughlin of Oregon City, OR, and Don (Deanna Padgett) McLaughlin of White Hall; one step-daughter, Sheryl (James) McKinney of Murrayville; one step-son, Darrel Knox of Jacksonville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Betty) McLaughlin and Hal (Eva Jo) McLaughlin, both of Winchester. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Bob and David McLaughlin.
Mr. McLaughlin was a graduate of Winchester High School and served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Jacksonville for 23 years. He enjoyed Civil War history, astronomy and loved St. Louis Cardinals Baseball.
