Robert D. Lewis, 86, of Rensselaer, Indiana, passed away on January 4, 2022.
Robert was born in Rensselaer, IN on September 29, 1935, the son of Howard and Geneva (Healey) Lewis. Robert graduated from Fair Oaks High School with the Class of 1953. His first marriage was to Viana Cover. Then, Robert married the love of his life, Joan Ellen Prather, on June 11, 1975, in Mt. Ayr, IN, and she preceded him in death on February 20, 2020.
Robert worked as a self-employed farmer and truck driver and spent 5 years working at a Ford plant. Robert was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church of Rensselaer. He enjoyed hunting bird, elk, and bears. He also loved fishing in Minnesota. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his children, Randy Lewis of Rensselaer, IN, Kathy Lewis of Monticello, IN, Cindy (Jim) Deaton of Brenham, TX, Todd (Micki) Lewis of Noblesville, IN, and Tara Wood of Monticello, IN; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter; siblings, William Lee (Wilma) Lewis of Rensselaer, IN and Janet Adamson of Remington, IN.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; brother, Jack Lewis; daughter-in-law, Alice Lewis; brother-in-law, Jim Adamson.
