Robert D. King, age 84, of Fairfield, beloved husband of 61 years of Mary M. King passed away peacefully Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital. Born in New York City, the son of the late Roy and Alfhid King he had been a Fairfield resident since 1969. He was a graduate of Iowa State University where he received a BS in Landscape Architecture and City Planning. Robert enrolled in the Air Force ROTC Program at Iowa State and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation. He served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1957 separating as a 1st Lieutenant. He retired as the City Planner for the Town of New Canaan in 2008. He was a member of the Norwalk Kiwanis Club, the American Planning Association and the American Society of Landscape Architecture.
