Robert D. Herendeen, 68, Huntington, IN., died Monday, January 17, 2011 at 5:15 p.m. at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Bob was born August 1, 1942 in Huntington, Indiana to Herbert and Doris Jamison Herendeen. His father preceded him in death. Mr. Herendeen married Barbara Allman on December 2, 1967 in Huntington.

Mr. Herendeen was a graduate of Huntington High School, class of 1960. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964 and the Air National Guard from 1968 to 1975 as a security specialist. Bob worked as a conductor on the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad, for Elevator Union in Fort Wayne, and was co-owner of The Bell Cafe in Huntington. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntington, Indiana, American Legion Post 85, Huntington and a former member of the Huntington Jaycees.

Survivors include his mother. Doris Herendeen, Huntington, his wife, Barbara Herendeen, Huntington, IN, three sons: Andrew (Jennifer) Herendeen, Houston, TX, Joseph (Deanna) Herendeen, Huntington and John Herendeen, Marquette, Michigan, one daughter; Elizabeth “”Libby”” (Andrew) Somers, Fort Wayne, Indiana, two foster children: Tim Brown, Warsaw, Indiana and Pam Brown, Montique, Michigan, a sister, Tamara Herendeen, Huntington, four grandchildren, Winnie Herendeen, Houston, Texas, Lucy Somers, Fort Wayne, Julian Somers, Fort Wayne, IN and Claire Herendeen, Huntington.

In addition to his father, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Herendeen.
