Bob Keefer, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2022 with his family by his side after a long illness. Loving father, grandpa, papa, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Born in Biloxi, Mississippi on October 24, 1953, Bob spent his early life and many childhood summers in his family’s hometown of Binghamton, New York. His family moved to Akron, Ohio in 1960 where he graduated from East High School in 1971. Bob raised his family in Green, Ohio before finally settling in Portage Lakes. He retired from Akron’s METRO Regional Transit Authority where he was a bus driver. He made many friends while working there and was enjoying his retirement with his “breakfast buddies.” Before METRO, Bob had a long career with 7-UP and Coca-Cola.
Bob loved sports, especially the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed playing cards, watching movies, listening to oldies, and traveling to the beach with his family. Bob was a hardworking, dedicated man whose kind heart and jokester personality will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Lee Keefer and Brother-in-Law, Eddie Knecht. Bob is survived by his sons, Chad Keefer, Michael (Kimmy) Keefer, and Jimmy (Ang) Keefer, and their mother and former spouse, Cindy Mitchell; his grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Chad, Chase, Cadence, Collin, Connor, Kelsie, and Zoey Keefer; great-grandson, Chase Jr.; his loving mother, Phyllis Keefer; step-mother, Vera Keefer; his sisters, Debbie Knecht, Laura (Rory) Mayer, Linda (Rusty) Allen, and Julie Eder; brother, Eric Keefer; aunt, Betty Willoughby; former daughters-in-law, Heather Keefer and Erin Capps; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
