Robert D. “Bob” Cuppy, 82, of Elkhart, gently departed this life Sunday morning, Aug. 2, at Elkhart General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born Feb. 16, 1933, in Elkhart, to the late Wanitaw G. and Elizabeth (Specht) Cuppy.
Surviving are his son, Mark R. (Julie) Cuppy of Elkhart, and his daughter, Pamela K. Cuppy of Greenville, Mich., five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Later in life, Bob reconnected with his childhood sweetheart, Patti Jamison. They enjoyed many happy years as dear friends.
Bob was a 1950 graduate of Elkhart High School, and loved to meet regularly with his loyal friends from school to discuss politics and solve world problems at Stan’s Barber Shop.
He retired from the New York Central Railroad after 20 years, as a road conductor. Bob formerly attended Trinity Lutheran Church.
He was an avid sports fan, and a huge Chicago Cubs and Bears supporter. He was also a proficient card player with an amazing memory: he often hosted pinochle clinics at the Elks. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing horseshoes and softball and attended many sporting events. Bob cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
