Robert Curtis Seymour, known affectionately by all as Bob, Daddy or Pappy, passed away quietly at age 93 while at home in the early morning hours of April 28, 2022.
He was born on March 4, 1929 in West Virginia. At an early age, he had to go to work at B & O Railroad to help support his mother and siblings. Later, he lied about his age and joined the US Army in 1946. He served with the paratroopers (yes, he jumped out of perfectly good airplanes) as a squad leader in post War Japan. He came home and started working at PPG Glass, where he remained until he retired in 1986. There he served as a longtime Union Representative, which he felt was his greatest accomplishment. He expanded his skills, and built two homes by hand- one for his mother and another for his family.
After retirement, he and Wanda moved to Naples, Florida, where he built yet another home, and enjoyed the beach life.
He was married to Geraldine Brant from 1955 until her untimely death. They had a daughter Pam Gartzke. In 1972, he met and married Wanda Bennett Miller. They remained a devoted couple until his death. With her, he gained two step children, Brad and Tara. They had a son together, Todd. He is survived by them, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and innumerable friends.
He lived a full life, with abundant and cherished friends and a loving family. He was readily available to help with any projects around his loved one’s abodes, and to offer his time when needed. He will be sorely missed.
