Mr. Cook died at his home on July 5, 2015.
Bob was born on June 12, 1965, in Albion, the son of Merlin and Darlon Dolly (Matchett) Cook. He was raised in Albion and graduated from Albion High School in 1983. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln earning a Bachelors of Science in Education and coaching certificate.
On June 24, 1989, Bob married Gayla Gries in Norfolk.
The couple moved to Mitchell, NE, in 1990, when Bob began his teaching career in the Mitchell Public Schools. He continued to teach there through the 2003 school year. The family moved to Norfolk where Bob was a substitute teacher. In 2004, he began working for Lutheran High Northeast and held that position through 2010. He also taught summer school for the Norfolk Public from 2004 until the time of his death.
While in Mitchell, Bob was cast as the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz production in the centennial celebration. Bob was one who never met a stranger and was quick to help everyone. He was very people orientated and would share a story or joke every time he would meet someone.
Bob took great pride in the accomplishments of his students. And he continued to stay in contact with most of them. However, his passion was for his family.
Bob is survived by his children, Andrew Cook, of Bellevue, and Caitlin Cook, of Bellevue; his sisters and their spouses: Susan and Wayne Andreasen and Barbara and Larry Oetken, all of Norfolk; nieces and nephews and their spouses: Karri (Mike) Wiederin and Michael (Trisha) Andreasen, all of Norfolk; Jamon (Katie) Andreasen of Brookfield, MO; Bradley Andreasen of Genoa; Ashley Oetken and Jordan Oetken of Norfolk; 10 great-nieces and nephews: Ayden, Cael, and Mia Wiederin; Raina, Braylon and Reese Andreasen; Madeline, Owen, Della and Jacob Andreasen; his former wife, Gayla and her husband, Steve Jerrell, of Bellevue; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Laura Cook and Darrel and Elva Matchett; parents, Merlin Cook and Darlon Cook; and great-nephew Cade Wiederin.
