Robert (R.C.) Staton was born in Colbert County on August 21, 1941, to the late Jim Staton and Margaret Nichols Staton. He departed this life on July 22, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Decatur Morgan Hospital-Decatur General Campus. He attended school in Lawrence County. He confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Town Creek, AL.
He retired from Walker Brothers Construction in New Castle, Delaware.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter James Staton and Jimmy D. Staton and a host of in-laws.
He leaves the cherish his memory: a wife of 50 years, Laura Staton; two sons, Robert Jr. (Aisha) Staton and Sidney (Jaimee) Staton; three daughters, Eva (Lisa) Staton, Sally Staton and Vautisha Staton all of New Castle, Delaware;14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; one devoted sister, Mary Mosley; one brother, Leonard Staton of Hillsboro; a devoted great-niece, Debresa Mason; three brothers-in-law, S.T. Fuqua (Virginia), Robert Brown both of Decatur; Lester (Lucy) Brown of Courtland; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Ricks of Decatur; Lilly Pearl (Carl) of Hillsboro; a loving friend of the family, Angie Wallace and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
