Farmington – Robert C. Goodell, 69, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, at his home with his loving family and friends by his side.
Bob was born the son of the late Stacy and Jean (Lockner) Goodell on Thursday, December 2, 1948, in Clifton Springs, NY. He graduated from Red Jacket High School Class of 1967 and completed his master’s degree at SUNY Brockport for Bio-Chemistry. On November 8, 1975 Bob married Bernice D’Arduini. In 1971, Bob began his teaching and coaching career at Greece Olympia School.
Throughout his career, Bob coached Section V sports for over 40 years at Greece Olympia, Newark Central Schools, Red Jacket Central Schools, where in 1994 he started the cross country program, and Victor Central Schools. Bob was an excellent runner who once tried out for the Olympics and currently still holds the 2 mile record at Red Jacket High School. He was inducted into the Red Jacket Hall of Fame in 2006, Section V Track and Field Hall of Fame in 2014, and the Section V Cross Country Hall of Fame in 2016.
Bob will be remembered by his wife of 43 years, Bernice Goodell; children, Robert (Carrie) Goodell, and Paula (Jeremy) Goodell-Laursen; grandchildren, Andrew and Emma Goodell, and Reed Laursen; sister, Jane Hobart; brother, William (Brycie) Goodell; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Tim) Coyne, Glenn Hobart, Robert D’Arduini, and Domenic Cole; great-nephews, Trenton Coyne, Ryan D’Arduini, and Dixon Hobart; Father/Mother In-Law, Jim and Mary D’Arduini; brother-in-law, Jim (Diane) D’Arduini; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Jeff) Pratt, and Maria Cole; dear friends, Bill and JoAnn Henry, and David Benedict; spiritual support, Rev. Deasio and Rev. VanLieshout; and many other extended friends and family.
