Obituary of Robert Charles Fowler
FOWLER, Robert C. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013. He was 77 years old. Robert Charles Fowler was born on December 29, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Russell I. and Elizabeth C. (Indlekofer) Fowler. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School with the Class of 1953. Following graduation, Robert proudly served on active duty in the United States Navy from 1955 until 1959; he then continued his service in the United States Naval Reserves from 1960 until 1966. After being honorably discharged, he worked for Saginaw Steering Gear as a machine operator in Plant Six for 27 years, retiring in 1995.
He delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, and since 1985 until July 23 of this year, Robert was a devoted supporter of the Michigan Blood Bank, donating 33 gallons over his 28 years of participation, placing him in the Top 10 donor’s list across the state. Further, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8803, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and the Moose Lodge #82. His hobbies included McDonald’s Senior Bingo, Swinging Seniors Lunch and Bingo, and putting together all kinds of models, including cars and airplanes.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory, two brothers: Arthur Fowler and Edward Fowler; two sisters: Betty (James) Mott and Carol (Bill) Trudell; a special great niece, Rachel Fowler; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Russell, Raymond, and George Fowler; and sister, Kathryn Fowler.
