Robert Carver Phares, age 86, passed away Saturday morning, March 3, 2018 at The Denver Hospice. Bob was born in Denver on October 2, 1931, to Clifford Waybright Phares and Lola Irene Carver. Bob graduated from South High School in 1950. He went on to college at University of Northern Colorado, getting his degree in Biological Sciences. After college, he joined the Air Force, and was stationed at Grand View, Missouri for 2 years. Bob returned to Denver, and married Eileen Flattery on March 15, 1957. He started teaching in the Littleton school district, and taught in several different junior high schools. During this time, he completed his Master’s Degree. He retired in 1987. Bob has two daughters, Kendra and Debbie. He has five granddaughters, Jessica, Ashley, Katherine, Christy and Danielle. He has two great grandchildren, Lexi and Kyle. He will be dearly missed by his family. Bob loved the outdoors. He took every opportunity to go camping, fishing and four wheeling. There was not an area in Western Colorado that he had not explored. Once school let out in the summer, he took the family camping. He traveled from San Diego to Calgary, Canada, and saw the Queen of England at the opening of the Calgary Stampede. He loved to fish, and was always out “for the big one”. He loved airplanes. He built over 100 model airplanes. He loved trains, and would ride a train any time he could. Bob belonged to the same bridge group for over 50 years.
