On Sept 4, 2021 Dr Robert Capener Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend, Mentor, Teacher, Passionate Scientist, Jack of All Trades, Ultimate Yellowstone Tour Guide and Master of Stories passed away peacefully at the age of 88. 

Born March 21, 1933 in Salt Lake City to Leland and Helen just 15 min ahead of his twin Richard.

Some of his achievements include:

Studying at Princeton Institute for Advanced Study under Nobel prize winning physicists; Research on NSF (National Science Foundation) projects alongside world renowned physicists; NSF panel Judge, judging science projects from top Ivy League schools; Undergrad from University of Utah; PhD in Theoretical Physics from USU as a “2nd generation Einstein.”

Bob swept Pauline Davis off her feet, and with one shoe out the window, they married on Sept. 23, 1955 in the Logan temple and have remained married for 65 years.

Doing his tenure at Weber State University, he was the only professor on campus to hold two full professorships: physics and computer science (CS).  He was a major factor in the origins and innovations in the CS program. 

His passions were physics, fishing Yellowstone and being in Island Park with his family.  His passion to teach influenced many lives.  His unconditional love and his memories will be carried in our souls forever.

Robert is preceded in death by: Sister Joyce Cornwall; Children: Sharrie and Lance Capener.  Survived by: Wife: Pauline; Children: Robin Sigretto (Phil), Mark (Sally), Mike (Leslie), Scott and Suzanne; His brother Richard and sister Marlee (Richard) Vause; Grandchildren: 16; Great grandchildren: 3 and host of family and friends.
