Robert C. Kennon, 74, passed away Sunday June 1, 2014 in Greenwood. He was a resident of Franklin. Robert was born May 17, 1940 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Edison D. and Billie Ruth (Love) Kennon. Robert married Harriet Velting on Nov. 26, 1965 in Imperial, California; they were married for 48 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was an over the road truck driver for 40 years, working for Transcon Freight Line till 1990 then for National Freight where he drove from Indianapolis to California, five days a week. He retired in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved feeding and watching the birds in his backyard.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet Kennon of Franklin, six children, Peggy Kennon of Nevada, Robert Kennon Jr. of Arizona, David (Britta) Kennon of Germany, Christina (Daniel) Chupp  and Jon (Melissa) Kennon both of Franklin, DeAnne “ D.D.” (David) Wentzel of Pennsylvania, a sister, Phyllis (Charles) Springer of Tennessee, three brothers, Jimmie (Gloria) Kennon of Mississippi, Edison (Jerri Ann) Kennon Jr. of Iowa and Billy (April) Kennon of Pennsylvania,

eight grandchildren, Nathan and Gerrit Chupp, Amanda Veenhuizen, Megan Workman, Devin Kennon Wentzel, Alex Kennon, Alina Kennon and Maike Dunkel and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janice South.
