Robert Burton, 86, of Peru, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019, at OSF Healthcare in Peoria. Mr. Burton was born on March 19, 1932, in Manville to Harold and Irene (Hamilton) Burton.

He married Molly Marianne Halfpenny on October 11, 1952, in St. Anthony’s Church, Streator. He served in the Navy in the Korean War.  Bob received his B.S. from the University of Illinois in accounting. He was an accountant/data manager for 40 years. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, LaSalle, Deer Park Country Club, the Illinois Valley Barber Shop Quartet, and the I. V. IIII. He was an avid golfer, bridge player, fisherman, and master gardener.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Deborah Smith of The Woodlands, TX, and Amy (Dwayne) Potthoff of Lindenhurst, IL; one son, John (Lori) Burton of Walnut Creek, CA; 9 grandchildren, Jason, Andrew and Patrick Smith, Rachael Fuller, Jon, Colin, Jimmy, Daphne, and Sam Burton; 4 great-grandchildren, Hailey and Jacob Smith and Riley and Avery Fuller; and two brothers, Don (Audrey) Burton of Peru and Tom (Susie) Burton of Sandwich.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jim Burton; son-in-law, Ray Smith and his sister, Ardelle Lyons.
