Robert “Bob” Meado, 73, of South Jacksonville and formerly of Hillview, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born April 18, 1937, in Jacksonville, the son of Lester and Viola Ball Meado. He married Audrey Staats on March 20, 1959, in Jacksonville, and she survives. He is also survived by two brothers, Lester (Bonnie) Meado of Alexander and Jess (Donna) Meado of Jacksonville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son and one daughter in infancy; and one brother, Clarence “Babe” Meado.
Mr. Meado was a member of the Jacksonville High School Class of 1955. He retired after 35 years with Capitol/EMI. In the late 1970s and early 1980’s he and his wife owned and operated The Ranch House in South Jacksonville. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army and attended Hillview Baptist Church. His interests included woodworking, history, and science, and he enjoyed spending time with his family.
