Robert (Bob) Lundquist Elder – 90 years old
Robert L. Elder passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on December 3, 2017 in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
“Daddy Bob”, as many of his children called him, was born in DuBois, Pennsylvania on June 13, 1927. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II before attending Penn State University and graduating with a degree in Agronomy.
In his early career, Bob was a partner with T.E. Carroll, a leading landscape contractor in the Washington, D.C. area and quickly became a well known and established professional in the landscaping arena.
In 1971, Bob founded Robert L. Elder & Sons, Inc., a golf course design and construction company located in Smithsburg, Maryland.
He was a man of many passions and will be remembered by those closest to him for his love of trains, machinery, farming, antiques, and most of all, his family.
Bob was preceded in death by his Father, John Burton Elder and his Mother, Mildred Christine Lundquist.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Diane Stottler Elder and his six children; Burt, Rick, Chuck, Steve, Mark, and Lisa, as well as, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
