Robert Joseph “Bob” Rider, 67, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at his residence. He was born Nov. 15, 1944, in Elkhart to James M. and Dorothy E. (Moreno) Rider. Survivors include two sons, Robert D. “Wink” Rider of Elkhart and Ryan (Selena) Rider of Portage, Mich.; a daughter, Gina Rider of Middlebury; mother, Dorothy E. Rider of Elkhart; a brother, James (Linda) Rider of Elkhart; three grandsons, Dante Zuniga of Middlebury and Robert Smitt and Andrew Holiday, both of Portage; and three granddaughters, Stephanie and Christina Rider of Goshen and Emily Rider of Portage.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane E. Rider; and a brother, Michael Dominiak. Bob was employed at Selmer Instruments for more than 16 years prior to his retirement. In addition to being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and farming. Bob probably produced the best farm-fresh brown eggs in Northern Indiana and continues to do so.
