Robert “Bob” J. Landen, 94 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation in Beatrice. He was born on March 18, 1923 in Albion to Walter and Iva (Watson) Landen. Bob was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Lutheran Church of rural St. Edward. He attended country school and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1940. He married Dorothy Ann Fisher of St. Edward on July 2, 1944 at the First Lutheran Church in Omaha.

Bob was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Army in the Philippine Islands from 1945-1946. After his discharge from the Army in 1946, he moved to Albion with his wife Dorothy and daughter Lynnette and went to work for Consumers Public Power. In 1951, Bob started Landen Electric and TV with his brother Jack in Albion where they sold and serviced appliances and televisions as well as doing residential and commercial electrical work. He sold out in 1959 and went back to work for Consumers Public Power in Chadron. Consumers Public Power eventually merged with Nebraska Public Power District and in 1962 he was promoted to District Energy Manager in Beatrice where he worked until retiring in 1987 after a total of 33 years with Consumers Public Power and NPPD.

Bob was a former Beatrice City Councilman and a former Board of Adjustment member. He was a member of Hidden Acres Golf Course and served many years on the Board of Directors. Bob was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #27, VFW Post #1077, Beatrice Eagles Aerie #531 and a former member of the Beatrice Elks Club, Kiwanis Club and Chamber of Commerce.

Bob is survived by a daughter, Lynnette “Lonie” Reiff and husband Lynn of Beatrice; son, Terry and wife Susan of Lincoln; grandson, Shawn Reiff and great grandsons Grant and Hunter of Beatrice; granddaughter, Heidi (Landen) Harris-Scarrow and husband Paul and great grandchildren Colin Harris and Mallory Scarrow, all of Lincoln; sisters, Korrine Bailey of Englewood, Colorado, Ruth Hartford of Albion; sisters-in-law, Gretchen Landen of Albion, Nancy Landen of Newman Grove; brothers-in-law, Don Fisher and wife Alyce of Genoa, Lanny Fisher and wife Nancy of Duncan; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 69 years, Dorothy on March 23, 2014; brothers, Jack and Leland; infant sister, Colleen; sisters, Marion Landen, Patricia Goad; and brothers-in-law, Bud Goad, Jack Bailey and Bob Hartford.
