GERNAAT, Robert Sr. “Bob” went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, December 3, 2013. Bob was born August 8, 1934, in Kalamazoo the son of the late Harm and Suzanna DeFouw Gernaat.
He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Bob worked for several years with Wells Aluminum but his passion was being the custodian for over 40 years at Hope Reformed Church where he was also a member. Bob was a kind person and could always be seen with a smile on his face. On January 25, 1958, he was united in marriage to his loving wife Pat, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Bob Jr. Kathy Gernaat, Tom Jan Gernaat, Bill Heather Gernaat, Amy Chris Adams; grandchildren, Rhiannon Daren Sage, Matt Meg Gernaat, Kendra Gernaat, Bryan, Alyssa and Kristin Adams, Zachary, Mackenzie and Madison Gernaat; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ella, Natalie, and Giana; and several brother and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
