Survived by children Rob (Lynn) Vosbeek, Vicki (Peter) Timm and Kathy Nelson; grandchildren Amy Elliott, Jenny Vosbeek, Ann Kruse, Maggie Timm, Cassie Timm, Joe Timm, Luke Nelson, Jack Nelson, Matthew Nelson; great-grandchildren Clara Elliott, Tessa Elliott, and Harper Vosbeek. Preceded in death by wife Lou Vosbeek.
Bob was a loving husband, father, Papa, and great Papa. He was born in Appleton Wisconsin. Bob graduated from High School at age 17 and joined the Navy after turning 18 in 1950. He served in the Korean war. He served as a Senior Operating Room Corpsman in Guam. He was honorably discharged in the summer of 1954.
Bob started at the University of Minnesota in the fall of 1954. He married the love of his life Mary Louise (Lou) Beerling on August 18th 1956. He graduated from the U of M with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in the spring of 1959.
He was hired by the Glenn L. Martin Co. in June of 1959. He worked for Martin Marietta for 31 years. He started as a Test Conductor on the Titan Missile Program. He worked his way up through the corporation finally attaining the Titles of Program Manager, Director, and Vice President on a Saudi Arabia Photovoltaic Power System. He was always assigned to “Red” Programs which were the ones that were always behind schedule and over cost. He always turned the “Red” Programs “Green”. Bob was a dedicated, motivated, tireless worker and was well respected throughout his career. This did cost him time away from family and activities that he loved. He retired in August of 1990. He enjoyed retirement with time to enjoy many lifelong activities.
Lifelong and retirement activities included hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and golf. Bob and Lou went on many trips around the world in retirement.
Bob set up 4 generations for success. He invested well and insisted on and ensured college educations for his kids and grandkids. Bob and Lou lived frugally to ensure a comfortable inheritance for his entire family.
Bob was a devout Catholic. All of his recent sufferings are over and he is no doubt enjoying time with Lou again in heaven.
