Robert “Bob” Eudean Spencer, 90, of Raleigh, died Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Springmoor Retirement Community in Raleigh.

Robert was a native of Guilford County and a member of Benson Memorial UMC where he was a former Sunday School Teacher and former Lay Leader. He was a graduate and salutatorian of Liberty High School,1948 and received a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Education Degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Robert was an educator by profession and teacher and principal with Randolph and Forsyth Counties School System for nineteen years. He was formerly employed as Executive Director with the NC Lions Foundation from 1971 to 1995 where he was involved with Camp Dogwood. Among awards bestowed on him were two International President’s Awards, Melvin Jones Fellowship and Jack Stickey Fellowship Award – Fifth Progressive. He was elected to Boys State, past president, Raleigh Public Relations Society, past president, Southeastern Region of the American Association of Workers for the Blind, Past Chairperson for the N.C. Human Tissue Advisory Council, past member of the Consumer and Advocacy Committee for the Blind, past secretary of the Conference of Lions Camps of the U.S., past Cabinet secretary/treasurer of District 31-G and served as a 100% Club President, Zone Chairman. Also served as a  District Governor 31-C 1996-1997, and N.C. Lion’s Foundation Board of Governors. He was a life member of the National Education Association, N.C. Lions Foundation, and current member of the Raleigh Host Lions Club, District 31-G. Since 1955, he was a former member of the Ramseur, Tabernacle, Twin City, and Lincolnton Lions Clubs, District 31. Robert was also N.C.

Survivors: sons, David Spencer and wife, Linda, of Alliance, NC, Kevin Spencer and wife, Charlotte, of Columbia, TN, sister, Betty Craven, of Asheboro, brother, James “Jim” Spencer, of Raleigh, grandchildren, David Spencer, Jr. and wife, Kimmie, Scott Spencer and wife, Courtnee, Caleb Huckelba.
