Robert D. “Bob” Richards, the son of John E. “Everett” and Jessie D. “Demarise” (Mulbrook) Richards, was born on November 14, 1928 in Newton, Iowa. He was a graduate of Newton High School in 1947. Bob served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Bob, at the age of 79, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at the Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chuck Richards, and a sister, JoAnn Terrell.
Those left to honor Bob’s memory are his wife, Joanne; sons, Marty (Deb) Richards of Brainerd, Minnesota; Michael S. (Cindy) Richards of Newton; and Matt (Renee) Richards of Newton; his eight grandchildren, Bob (Angie), Jim, Dan, Tyler, Lance, Lindsey, Jason, and Joseph Richards; brother, L. Wayne Richards of Newton; his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
