Robert “Bob” Andrews Yates, Jr. 78, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Mr. Yates was born September 15, 1944, in Bennettsville, South Carolina to the late Robert Andrews Yates, Sr. and the late Aletha Guy Walker. He was a graduate of Aberdeen High School, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master’s Degree in Divinity. Mr. Yates served as a Deacon and an Elder at Covenant Church of Harrisburg. He was a member of the Gideons International Cabarrus South Camp where he enjoyed serving in the jail ministry and ministering at Stonewall Jackson Youth Development Center. Mr. Yates founded the Harrisburg, NC Horseshoe League and served as the Seniors representative on the Harrisburg, NC Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
Survivors include wife, Beverly Caldwell Yates of Charlotte, NC; son, Andy Yates, and wife, Charlotte, of Huntersville, NC; daughter, Jennifer McGee, and husband, Micah, of Harrisburg, NC; grandchildren William Kellogg, Lizzy Kellogg, Malachi McGee, Abram McGee, and Samuel McGee; and his beloved dogs Bruno and Jasmine.
