Robert “Rob” Gene Baumann, 44 of Bloomington, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born May 5, 1968 in Bloomington, he was the son of Gene A. Baumann and Edna L. (Pfaff) Byrd. Rob was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Following high school (Owen Valley) he attended Lincoln Tech. After earning a degree he worked as a mechanic for Gosport Auto Repair, Micro Motors, Certitech, Mission Auto Repair, Newt’s Marathon and Tom Cherry Muffler. Rob was an avid hunter and fisherman who love the outdoors. Above all he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving relatives include his mother, Edna L. Byrd and stepfather, Donald H. Byrd of Texas, daughters, Edna Cheyenne and Emma Jean Baumann, lifetime companion, Paula Rice and her children, Justin Rice, Crystal Rice and Rachael Eads all of Bloomington, five grandchildren, McKenna, Brayleish, Taylin, Zaren and Carmen, sisters, Edna A. Rubeck and her husband Dale Rubeck of Spencer, Mary S. Fleetwood and her husband, Bobby Fleetwood of Bloomington, Kelly Belmore and her husband Howard Belmore of Texas, brother, James A. Shipley and his wife Joyce M. Shipley of Texas, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rob was preceded in death by his father, Gene Alois Baumann, grandparents, Louis and Emma Baumann, Fred and Nella Anderson, aunt, Connie Hall, great aunt, Ella Hall, and great uncle, Floyd Hall. Rob touched each and every one of our hearts, and he will be truly missed.
