Robert “Roby” B. Wright, 81, of Newington, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 1, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian (McGrath) Wright. Born and raised in Sabattus, Maine, he was a longtime Southington resident prior to relocating to Newington. Robert retired from the State of CT Dept. of Transportation after many years of employment. He was a sports fanatic, a Red Sox fan, coach, manager and umpire for baseball for decades. He loved to travel, bowl and was a huge hit at the bingo hall. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who was devoted to his family. He leaves behind three sons, Robert Wright, Jr. and his wife Jacalyn of Plainville, William Wright and his longtime companion Laura of Southington, Stephen Wright and his wife Debra of Southington, his daughter Donna Nyren and her husband Jon of Arizona, four grandchildren, Daniel, Deana, Maddie and Jack. Five great grandchildren Gavin, Lily, Londyn, Luka and Cody, as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his dear and close friend of many years Joanne Rampone and his friend Dee Oliver.
