Obituary
NEW COLUMBIA — Robert B. Middleton, 46, of Pleasant View Road, New Columbia, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, devoted mother and family following a courageous battle with cancer the past few months.
Born in Lewisburg on July 17, 1961, he was the son of Richard L. and Genevieve (Zielinski) Middleton of Watsontown. On May 16, 1992 he married the former Donna Jean Wirth and they have celebrated 16 years of marriage.
A 1979 graduate of Warrior Run High School, Bob graduated from the former Williamsport Area Community College. He has been employed as a diesel mechanic for well over 20 years at Penske, White Deer.
He was a member of the former Lower West Branch JayCees and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, McEwensville.
Bob loved traveling and family gatherings. He also enjoyed his poker nights with his friends.
Surviving besides his parents and wife are a step-son, Toby L. Herman of Danville; four brothers and their wives: James R. and Wendy Middleton, Watsontown; John and Cindy Middleton, Mill Hall; Thomas R. and Pam Middletown, Wilkes-Barre; and William A. and Loice Swisher Middleton of Ambler; nieces and nephews: Rebecca, David, Bradley, Amy, Corry, Samantha, Victoria, and a great-niece, Aislinn; and his mother and father-in-law: Ruth and Herb Wirth of Mifflinburg.
A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 1:00 PM at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Route 44 and Susquehanna Trail, McEwensville with Pastor Amelia Shivers officiating. The family will be receiving friends immediately following the service in the social hall on the main level of the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with his medical expenses are being accepted at 3811 Pleasant View Road, New Columbia, PA 17856.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Geisinger Hospice for all their help through Bob’s illness.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main Street, Watsontown.
