Robert Bing Ellis

“Daddy, Papa, Mr. Robert, or “Bing”, as he would be referred to jokingly will be missed by every life he touched.  However, every life he touched will be changed and we will all remember the smile and life that lit up the room.”

Mr. Robert B. Ellis, age 84, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021.

Mr. Ellis was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ellis, Sr.  He was the loving and devoted husband to the late Mrs. Dianne Kent Ellis and an amazing father to three wonderful daughters: Donna (John) Baker, Robin Ellis, Christi Ellis.

Mr. Ellis was the greatest “Papa” to three girls, Amy (Jerry) Lewis, Jennifer (Justin) Graves, and Ashley (Michael Breedlove) Baker.  He had seven great-grandchildren whom he adored – Kristen, Kyle, Carley, Kendall, Addison, Teegan, and Austyn Elizabeth.

On Saturdays in the fall, you could fine Mr. Ellis cheering on his Auburn University Tigers and was always quick to give you a big old “WAR EAGLE”! He greatly enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves with his granddaughter Ashley, and the pair disagreed frequently about whose team they were depending on how they were playing.

Mr. Ellis worked in the textile mills in the Valley until his retirement. He also spent time working at the Achievement Center in Opelika. He could frequently be found sitting under the large pear tree in his backyard, enjoying the sunshine. He was also an avid gardener.

Daddy, Papa, Mr. Robert, or “Bing”, as he would be referred to jokingly will be missed by every life he touched.  However, every life he touched will be changed and we will all remember the smile and life that lit up the room.
