Robert A. “Bob” Perkins, 93, of South Jacksonville, IL died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at his residence.

He was born January 5, 1918 in Murrayville, IL; the son of Ora Lee and Blanche Wells Perkins. He married Eleanor R. Shaw on June 16, 1940 in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death on February 10, 1998.

He is survived by a daughter, Janet Ankrom (husband, Mick) of South Jacksonville; a son, Steve Perkins (wife, Vicki) of Jacksonville; and five grandchildren, Caryn Hagan (husband, Dan) of Lake Mary, FL, Aric Ankrom (companion, Rebecca Rabinsky) of Avondale, AZ, , Julie LaFrano (husband, Chuck) of Breckenridge, CO, Jason Scott (wife, Ashley) of Chatham, and Kelsie Perkins of Jacksonville; and a great grandson, Ryson Scott of Chatham.

Mr. Perkins served as a TSgt with the 759th Light Tank Brigade of the 4th Cavalry of the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during WW II. He owned and operated W.R. Shaw Company, a heating and air conditioning contractor in Jacksonville, for 32 years until his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville and was a former member of the Jacksonville Kiwanis Club and Jacksonville Elks Lodge. An avid golfer in the past, Bob more recently enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends.
