Robert Anthony Irlbeck passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 55 years of age.
Robert Anthony Irlbeck was born on January 30, 1966, in Canyon, Texas to Dean and Carol (Hillenbrand) Irlbeck. Robert’s early years were spent in several small towns in the Texas Panhandle where his father was a teacher. His elementary school years were spent in Baudette, Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota. His early high school years were spent in Winona, Minnesota, and his later high school years were spent in Scranton. The last half of his junior year and the first half of his senior year were spent as a foreign exchange student in New Zealand.
Robert attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Then he attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado and then the University of California in Berkeley, California with degrees in business, computer technology, and related fields. He was a member of Mensa International.
Robert’s first job was in technology in Des Moines, Iowa. After that, he was employed by GAP and several other computer and technology companies for a number of years. Then he formed his own computer/technology company which he owned and operated for many years. He lived in Houston, Texas, for a few years and then in Oakland, California for many years. After that, he returned to Des Moines, Iowa, where he lived until the time of his death. He was employed by Hy-Vee until the time of his death.
Robert enjoyed playing board games, grilling food, fishing, and solving mysteries.
Robert is survived by his father, Dean Irlbeck (Marian); his brother, Mark Irlbeck of Des Moines, Iowa; his two sons, Vaughn Irlbeck and Joseph Irlbeck; numerous nieces and nephews including Brittany Irlbeck of Des Moines, Iowa, Ben (Alaina) Irlbeck of Prole, Iowa, Steven (Cassie) Irlbeck of New Hampshire, and numerous cousins and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Jean Irlbeck.
