Robert Bob Gerding, 89, of Ottawa died on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Ottawa Pavilion. Bob was born on April 2, 1927, in Ottawa to Frederick and Alice (Schureman) Gerding. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. Bob married Rosemary Elizabeth Mitchell on June 13, 1953, at St. Marys Church in Naplate.
He worked at First National Bank and later for Bowes Sealfast. Bob was a member of St. Columba Church, American Legion Post 33, Ottawa VFW, Ottawa Knights of Columbus, Oglesby Elks Lodge, 40/8, Salmon Unlimited, White River Steelheaders, and White Lake Area Sportfishing Association. He participated in the Honor Flight Program. He is survived by four daughters, Judith Warren of Marquette, MI, Gayla (Larry) Johnson of Ottawa, Lynn Cassidy of Menomonee Falls, WI, Amy (Ken) Paulson of Chicago, and two sons, Frederick Fritz of Boca Raton, FL, and Robert (Christine) of Holland, MI, 12 grandchildren: Kyle, Katie, Kelsey, Kara, Conor, Rachel, Heather, Jackie, Rosy, Sofia, Henry, Tilly, and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary, on June 3, 1999, a grandson, Henry Paulson, a son-in-law, John Cassidy, a sister, Mabel Signorella, and a brother, Frederick (also known as Fritz). Pallbearers will be Fritz Gerding, Robert Gerding, Ken Paulson, Larry Johnson, Kyle Warren, Jeremy Johnson, and Conor Cassidy.
